Created this for our noobie techs , so when they say "Oh Right" ya I forgot perhaps they will not forget!
O - Open your ears and really listen to what the end user is telling you.
H - HAPPY!!!! Yes be happy in your demeanor and talking to your end user, DO NOT EVER TALK DOWN TO AN END USER try and use metaphors etc to bring things in understanding to there level.
R - REBOOT the P.C! Always do this FIRST!! Remember its a bill gates product and prone to weired behavior reboot to flush out any glitches in memory.
I - Investigate the problem fully , leave no stone unturned , there is nothing magical going on here there is a reason for the problem and you MUST find it.
G - GET IT DONE - The longer you take to get it fixed results in lost productivity and in the case of POS systems LOST REVENUE!!!
H - HELP! Yes ASK for HELP if you are stuck DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING!! Ask a senior tech for advice , DO NOT GO REDISCOVERING AMERICA.
T - TEST!!! TEST!!! TEST!!! everything that your end user is going to do and make sure EVERYTHING WORKS!
